Gail, It is 57 degrees in Chicago today!!! We have had a very mild winter but swinging on a hammock sounds like a good idea. Glad to hear that you are enjoying your new life. Chris is in from Hawaii and she was dreading the winter February cold. I swear it has been warm since she got here just so the universe woundn't have to hear her moaning. Love, Jo

Dear Gail, That's a pretty accurate summary of winter in Michigan, for all your California friends who haven't experienced real life in the snow belt. Here's the kind of stuff we've experienced this month: Yesterday we woke to an inch of damp heavy snow clinging to every twig and branch. Picture-postcard scenes everywhere. Then in the afternoon the fog and warm air descended. Grey. Gloom. Slush. Falling icicles. From 7 to 8 p.m. we had a ferocious wind storm with thunder and lightening. Still balmy at 11 p.m., then before dawn today it turned frigid (it might get up to the low 20s), so we now have large bumpy patches of treacherous ice and bone-chilling cold. More snow expected. Wish I could pull up a hammock next to yours. I'd swap my hot cocoa (tea) for a margarita. Love, Janet
